Feature Team

« Back to Glossary Index

A feature team is a cross-functional group in charge of delivering a particular feature or collection of features for a product. The structure of feature teams is focused on generating business value, in contrast to typical development silo teams that are organized around technical or functional silos.

Developers, testers, designers, and any other specialists form Feature Teams to produce a finished feature that satisfies client needs. They are accountable for all aspects of the features they produce, from design and development through testing, user acceptance testing – UAT and deployment. This indicates that they have the authority to decide how to best implement their features and that they have the knowledge and tools required to finish the work on their own.
